CLOUDWATCHER	Good morning friends. Although I have popped in most days to respond to friends’ comments, messages, blogs etc I have not been able to send comments for some time. I have been working on a new project, not difficult but time consuming and demanding of full concentration. It is progressing well so I’m taking a break to greet my friends. I’ve missed the daily “chat” but I see many others have also been absent for some time. We are in the last month of winter, but we have only had two days cold enough to wear more than a light cardy. I hope that doesn’t mean we’ll have a hotter than usual summer! If so, I might decide to migrate south! My thought for the day is from Albert Einstein: Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. My wish for the day: The discovery of a new ability and the joy of success - especially if after initial failure. Have a great day!

CLOUDWATCHER	I spent a few happy hours with yuwie friends Barb & Paul and their lovely dog Poppy yesterday. Poppy made herself at home and thought the sofa in my office was meant just for her. The time passed too quickly. Next time, we’ll plan a whole day of sightseeing and a picnic lunch, and when Lori and Joe are here from Canada we might be a bit more adventurous. I’m sure Lori would love to visit Snakes Down Under (but we won’t tell her where we are going). Yuwie friends are great!

CLOUDWATCHER	It is a bright, sunny, winter Saturday morning here in Australia with the temp at 22C (70F) and expected to rise. A group of kookaburras burst into a chorus of laughter a few minutes ago. I wish I could send you their sound, but my very limited technological expertise (and my limited download) won’t allow me to do that, so you will have to imagine their greeting to you. Have a very happy weekend, filled with happy times with family and friends, and a little “you” time.

CLOUDWATCHER	I’ve been considering the motto on my desk calendar today: “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” I agree with the saying, but I came to the conclusion that we are better off than candles. When we “light” or encourage others, we lose nothing but, as distinct from the candle, we actually GAIN. I would even say that we cannot brighten another’s day without brightening our own at the same time. So I’d like to pass on to you a little brightness. You help to brighten my day when I “see” you here, read your comments and blogs and sometimes have a little chat. Thank you for being you. You are special. CLOUDWATCHER	Well, today is officially the first day of winter here in Queensland where our slogan is “beautiful one day and perfect the next.” Well the temperature today has been 26C (about 80F) It won’t get much lower during the days for the rest of winter, but we will get cooler mornings and nights. This is a great holiday destination if anyone is thinking of travelling! Today, while messaging with a good friend here, we spoke of a dream of meeting. I’d love to meet some of my yuwie friends who live half a world away. Is it possible? I really don’t want to travel overseas again. I’ve done enough of that so I’ll leave it to the younger ones to come here. That reminds me of a quote by Mark Twain: ¶ Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. Have a good week. Happy yuwie-

CLOUDWATCHER	I leave tomorrow morning for Sydney, Adelaide and Port Lincoln where I will be presenting workshops regarding children’s ministry. I think I am almost ready, with just the last things to pack in the morning. I will be away for one week on a very tight schedule, so I will not have time to log in to yuwie or anywhere else. As most of you know, I love my work, so here are a few quotes about work that appeal to me. CLOUDWATCHER	We had fine weather yesterday for our trip to visit Barb & Paul and the four of us (plus Penny & Poppy) enjoyed a happy time of nattering. It isn’t really strange that we felt as if we’d known each other for ages, because in the last two years I’ve found that internet friendships can be as real as “local” ones. Barb & Paul have a beautiful home that reflects their happy, loving natures and I must add that Paul makes the best ever sandwiches! They were great. There was one snag, however. Soon after we pulled back onto the highway on our way home, I glanced down and there was my camera still sitting in the console. Silly me! I should have recorded the event, but there will be more occasions. I wish a few more of my internet friends lived a little closer. ¶ Friendship isn't a big thing - it's a million little things ¶ A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be Take care and have a great day!

CLOUDWATCHER	Today has been dark and dismal, so unusual for sunny Queensland. My office has four large windows and plenty of light but I have needed to use lights today for the first time in memory. It has rained almost non stop. We need the rain, so I am thankful, but I also find it slightly depressing. I am hoping it will be clear tomorrow, for that is when we are driving about 90 minutes south to visit a good yuwie friend for the first time. Barb and I have been trying to meet up for ages, but I haven’t been able to slot it into the calendar. While I am the driver and rain doesn’t bother me, my husband doesn’t like travelling in the rain, so I’m hoping for a fine day. I know meeting Barb & Paul will be wonderful, but it would be nice to have some sunshine as well. I hope you had a happy Easter and that the coming week will be full of sunshine for you. Take care.

CLOUDWATCHER	There were massive floods to the north of us early this year, with 62% of Queensland declared under flood. In the last week south east Queensland has been drenched with areas receiving up to 18 inches in a day and resultant flash flooding. There has been property damage and sand dune erosion at the beaches, and a few lives lost. The other side of the coin is that while the many years of drought is not over, our dams have risen from a critical 16% full to over 50% full and still rising. Water restrictions have been lifted with residents now able to water gardens and wash houses and cars for two half hour periods a week. We live between the main rain receiving areas and while receiving a fair share of rainfall, we have not had flooding or damage. ¶ Life is like a rainbow. You need both the sun and the rain to make the colours appear ¶ Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine Have a happy day and a great week!

CLOUDWATCHER	I’m slowly catching up with my work after taking days off to look for a car. At least I’m thrilled with the choice - a Hyundai Elantra 2 litre - the FIRST one we looked at!. I haven’t driven it much, apart from going grocery shopping and to Church but I hope to take it to Maryborough (a bit over an hour’s drive south) to meet a yuwie friend very soon. For those who don’t allow html the pic is in my Random shots album. So, thoughts about driving: ¶ It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road ¶ Road sense is the offspring of courtesy and the parent of safety ¶ A tree never hits an automobile except in self defence ¶ Leave sooner, drive slower, live longer
