| On a Mission to Save the World |

I'm on a mission to spread the word about what needs to be done to win the fight against global warming. You can find more details at my blog, but I'll elaborate here further. If you want to get involved, please email me and I'll share with you the different ways you can help.
"This is serious," is a total understatement. We are in big big big trouble if we don't act now. I'm not trying to hype this, or blow it out of proportion. If we don't make drastic changes in the next few years, there won't be anything we can do to stop global warming. We are in the 11th hour as it were. Please do not make light of what I'm about to tell you.
"According to a recent report
by The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), we have only
eight years left to take action before the affects of global warming
become to sever to reverse." Quote from my Blog.
This has been all over the news lately, and various groups have been holding conferences to discuss the findings in the report. Environmental Agencies are prioritizing what changes need to occur first, what resources it will take, and how long we have to make those changes. I have some suggestions, but they may seem a little harsh:
1. Every single inefficient (gas guzzling) vehicle in the world must be parked permanently, immediately. Only Hybrid, extremely fuel efficient (50 mpg), and electric cars should be allowed on the road. To accomplish this, the Federal and State governments will have to provide mass transit to every citizen. The mass transit will have to be powered solely by Green Energy sources like wind or solar power. This is hard to imagine, but it is a reality.
2. Every coal fired power plant in the world must be brought off-line as soon as possible. A union of renewable energy sources will have to be made in order to replace the lost power to citizens. The government will have to sponsor the mass production of clean energy through large scale manufacturing of equipment and green power plants.
3. There must be a global halt on all production of chemicals that harm the environment in any way. PVC and the like will have to become a thing of the past. Every single manufacturer in the world will have to switch to recyclable, biodegradable, re-usable and renewable materials and production methods. Any workers displaced by this will have to be sponsored into new jobs helping to build our new energy efficient infrastructure, and/or building clean energy equipment.
4. This one will be really hard to swallow for some. Everyone in the world will have to switch to an almost entirely vegan diet, and only buy groceries that are grown or produced locally. Not only that, but all meals should be prepared by groups of people. Friends, families and neighbors will have to get together and make breakfast, lunch, and dinner with one another whenever possible. Communal dining saves more energy then you would guess by having less ovens, dishwashers, and water heaters running. Vegan eating means no more large scale cattle farms (one of the biggest methane producers), and less refrigeration of food.
5. Everyone in the world must take part in these changes. No one is exempt. It doesn't matter how wealthy or poor you are, what walk of life you come from, or how many friends in high places you have; every single person is responsible for what happens to this planet. We all must work together if we want to be able to act in time.
There are many other things we can do to lessen our impact on the planet. I invite you to leave your ideas / suggestions and tell your friends to as well. It is so vitally important that everyone knows about this and that we start acting now. Please send me a message if you need help deciding where and how to start.
I hope you and yours are well.
Take care, Scott Riedy
