Referrals: The Great, the Good & the MIA

I first joined Yuwie in early September, full of enthusiasm with visions of dollar signs dancing in my head. Since then I've logged on nearly every day, have made a pretty large number of acquaintences and some truly good friends. IMO good Yuwie friends are those who regularly trade comments, read one anothers blogs, view one anothers photos and send the occasional personal message and that's what's making Yuwie worthwhile for me at the moment. It certainly isn't the money, because, even though I have a 200-plus referral downline, I still haven't earned enough for one check to be cut. Despite my best encouragement, most of the people recruited from the big, free online social networks or mailing list-based groups have gone back from whence they came, some without a word, some with excuses like "all my friends are there" or "Yuwie is too commercial... all people talk about is money and page views" or "75 cents for a month's work? I'm outta here!"  There are however a few Good Yuwie Friends in my downline who'd I'd like to thank publically:

SunDreamer, who also happens to be my husband so he knows there will be dire consequences if he doesn't pop his virtual head into Yuwie from time to time ;-)
http://ww7.yuwie.com/solarjohn/

Tina, one of my first referrals: really nice person, very active Yuwien and interesting blogger
http://ww7.yuwie.com/wildthang/

Kelly, who just signed up last week but has already surpassed most of my referrals in activity and has a pretty cool page already
http://ww7.yuwie.com/justmeuncensored/

Dave, a third-level referral who is a whirlwind of activity
http://ww7.yuwie.com/dave4/

There are others who are moderately active and a few more who at least are still here. But judging from my memory of last month's activity stats, a good three-quarters of my referrals haven't logged on in weeks in and some cases months so I think it's logical to say they've left Yuwie completely.

I'd also like to thank my non-downline fun'n'active friends like Katlady2, ScribbyCat, Carol, Zoey's Inspirations, Tara, Pat, Karin, Margy, Josi, Jim, Byronie, Dr. Gayle, OstaraWitch, Spirit Walker, Rick, Nora, Anna, John Peter and my newest Yuwie friends Mara, Ravenbat, Mz Frescatore, Cathi and William of BackPorchGallery for keeping this place alive for me. I know there are others but it's early in the morning... apologies to those I haven't mentioned, but you know who you are ;-)

Anyroad... my question to y'all is

Why do people leave Yuwie?
If they do stay, why aren't they more active?

I also have a theory that those members who signed up in the beginning (July?) are having an easier time keeping their referrals active than those of us who signed up later. Perhaps because they're just higher up the tree and have actually received a check or their direct referrer has. So if you decide to comment, please also let us know when you joined Yuwie.

Thanks for taking the time to read my rant :-)

me here catanna! all i can say is if you concentrate on the friendship then it will come together. i got 6 new down lines in a week time after being stalled for a couple months. plus i was without dsl which slowed me down from logging in as it takes too long to view yuwie on dial up. keep your spirits high. Oh by the way i LOVE your profile. The purple rocks!

Scott, thanks for reading and commenting... you're another good new friend I forgot to mention :-)

Stephanie, thanks for the encouraging words and congrats on your new active dl members! IMO being a good Yuwie friend works wonders with ppl who are actually HERE but if they leave there's not much one can do about that. Oh and I hear you about missing that fast connection! We have a cable modem here at home, but were on vacation at the end of Sept with an old funky laptop and dial-up service and it was so slow it was near-impossible to visit friends on Yuwie, or do much else online. My condolences to all those who don't have cable or DSL! I don't know how you do it!

Oh don't feel too sorry for hubby John, Boris. He has his own computer. If we had to share one, I'm sure our marriage wouldn't have lasted this long ;-)

Thanks for the blog comment, my new friend :-)

so is life...so is networking :))
some stay...some go...
some do 10%, or 50% ...or go for 100%???
and the question: why?
don't sign up for this class :)))
it is a mystery !!!
the only thing you know for sure...
is...success is for them,who STAY
and NEVER QUIT...and that is in ANY NETWORK!!!
(see my blogs :))
it will be always a numbers game, and "once"
you will find "the" referrals...
KEEP GOING ON...

I joined back in October I think. I am not more active because I get bored easily...to be honest, some of the Non-paying sites are more fun because of all the features they have. But I stay because I have made some pretty kool friends (including you) that I'd like to stay in touch with.

well CatAnna im sorry to hear but i understand exactly what your saying. I am in the position where i can keep up with it so i will keep trying but your estimations and everything all make sense . It does seem quite hard to make money so i will just use this as another social site along with my other that you already have. I did add you on another site as well so we will be sure to keep in touch. Im really touched that you took the time to mention my name in this blog that was really nice of you! I will be sure to keep in touch with you. And if you keep your profile as is and check it once and awhile dont feel over whelmed to write me back on yuwie if i leave you messages on yuwie just because i think you may log in and see them i dont want anything in return.; i know popping in on a site when your tryin to leave and seein messages makes you feel obligated so please dont . I have a couple sites like facebook and i check it randomly and my friends know it just an extra thing thank you!!

Pol, you are a true Positive Thinker and we can certainly use more of those 'round here (and there and everywhere!)

SnowPrincess, I hear you. Like I said, I'm here now mostly for the friends I've met... but there are some features that a certain other site has that this one doesn't that keeps me going back there as well.

Mz Fres, seems like a lot of us are members of multiple sites for different reasons. I login to some more often than others too and sometimes if someone is on more than one we'll start a conversation here and finish it there LOL! It was cool to see you in another venue earlier today ;-)

It seems to me that Y-management could make Yuwie more interesting... add new features, etc... and also help its members with their errant referrals by e-mailing ppl who haven't logged on in a while... especially if the e-mails contained news about things Y-management was doing to make Yuwie more interesting!

Hi CatAnna, I joined in Sept. My mom got me into it. I'm on for a few days in a row then off for a few days. I don't like spending all my time on the computer when my hubby is home. He's an over the road trucker and I'd rather spend our precious time together off-line! I am on for a few days every week though. I enjoy the friendships I've made here better then any other site and I too have pretty much giv'n up on any thought of making money.I like a little time to interact with someone who's not a kid!! I love my kids and I have 5 of them so finding time on my dial-up can be a little difficult sometimes. But like I said it's fun.

Rants are good for the soul CatAnna!! ~~smiles~~. I'm one who usually is on quite often but during the holidays with the grandkids its been hard to find the time, due to not being home alot.I do know what you mean though. I figured out early on this wasn't going to be a get rich site. But I enjoy the people aspect of it all.Trouble is trying to get people to come over here, and telling them it was mainly an adult site without the juvenile aspect of myspace. Then what happens?? That snitch stuff and everyone acting like school kids. I lost alot of referrals who went back to the other sites!!! GRRRR oops....look who is ranting now. See what you did? ~~smiles~~ I have other sites I go to as well, but this is my main place to be now. The people I've met on here are worth staying for!!!

Hi CatAnna, nice blog!
I'm here since mid-October and it grows fast. Mostly because my referral and also boyfriend ;o) have more time than me and he adds referrals. I'm very lucky. Also, he applies the "Under-Placing" concept and it works well! Basically, instead of putting everyone on your level 1, you put referrals under your active referrals, so it motivates everyone in the branch! Curiously, the most actives are the ones we applied it. I suggest you take a look at it...
