I've always been of the opinion that Yuwie will need a couple of things to 'put it over' with the social networking crowd that hang out at the 'Branded' sites: Myspace, Facebook, etc.
First up, I believe it is pivotal that Yuwie releases it's version of the music player widget! (See my blog: SNEAK PEEK! Is this what it will it take to put Yuwie 'over'? http://tinyurl.com/59nq6h)
In my opinion the ability for artists and bands to add a music player to their profiles and be able to showcase their music is really what helped Myspace become the largest social network to date. This ability to share music with their fans and A&R talent agents is what made for a 'win - win' situation: what seemed like every current band known to man put up a profile on Myspace and literally HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of fans joined Myspace to follow their favorite bands.
Did you catch that last sentence? Well, I read that Yuwie is also going to release a music player widget that will allow bands to add their music, but in addition SELL their songs direct from their profile! Guess where some of that money will go? You guess it - right to Yuwie and from there to YOU and I through an increase in the RSR!
CHA-CHING!
Ok, so what is the other thing that will help Yuwie grow and keep membership numbers up?
Besides any number of different types of 'widgets' like Facebook especially is known for (Keep in mind that the 'Open Social' movement is starting, if you don't know what that is do a Google search through your Yuwie Toolbar.) -
a Yuwie 'GAME'! If you are a member of any of the other bigger social sites you can't help notice that games are mad popular! Literally THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of members
play them.
Well, I happened across something interesting last evening while on Yuwie. I found a reference to what I believe what could be Yuwie's first attempt at attracting game fanatics to Yuwie:
the "Yuwie Stock Exchange (YSX) Game"!
I did a quick search and found no other information onsite about it except for where I found the clue - you can see it to in the Yuwie Help Center. Look at the top of this page and click on 'HELP' > Browse Topics > then scroll down. There is nothing posted but the title.
Now I have no idea if this is what Korry has in store for us or if it was something that was put on the backburner and he forgot to delete that reference, but in any case it is exciting to know that he has his finger on the pulse of what drives membership and I for one look forward to it or any other games he releases in the future.

In closing, let me ask you just what type of game would YOU like to see on Yuwie?
