| Demonstrating The Gospel Pt. 1 |
|
In this lesson you will learn that it is time to demonstrate the gospel. Jesus empowers His believers to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). A witness can show and also tell. A witness can give words and evidence. It is time for show and tell.
- How Peter demonstrated the gospel – Acts 3:1-16.
- Peter had heard Jesus teach, preach, and demonstrate the gospel, yet he denied Jesus and guilt filled his life. In the Upper Room he was filled with the Holy Spirit. He began to preach and 3,000 people were saved.
- Verse 6 – When Peter saw the lame man he told him, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Peter possessed power and authority in the name of Jesus.
- Verse 16 – What healed the man was faith in the name of Jesus, “And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong.”
- What happened when the sick were healed – Acts 4:1-4.
- The religious people got upset; they were greatly disturbed.
- Persecution rose up and Peter and John were arrested.
- However, 5,000 people heard the Word and believed.
- It is important to not be intimidated by the devil and religious people.
- It is time to demonstrate the gospel.
- You need to move out of complacency, indifference, and intimidation.
- You need to open your spiritual eyes to see the needs of people.
- You need to go where the needy people are.
- When you pray for the sick and they are healed it opens the door to the gospel.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- Share a recent experience of praying for a sick person and they were healed.
- How have you been persecuted by religious people and how did you handle it?
- Do you need to move out of complacency, indifference, and intimidation in the area of demonstrating the gospel?
BE A DOER OF THE WORD
This week begin to move out of yourself and purposely go to places where people need to be healed. Some suggestions of places where people need to be healed are in hospitals, nursing homes, workplaces, and encounters in your day-to-day activities. Ask God to open your eyes to see hurting people and then move out and demonstrate the gospel by praying for them. Take the name of Jesus to sick, needy, and hurting people.
