A Year of ills.......

I just cannot believe how sick I've been this year!  Well, since September of 2007...   And not just slightly feeling bad, I mean, REALLY FEELING AWFUL!   Is it just me or are people everywhere experiencing higher incidences of bad illnesses?

I am currently experiencing a severly infected outer and inner ear.  Normally, with medications, an ear infection clears up in 3 days.  I'm going on my fourth day with medication and it's just as bad as it was last Thursday night.  Turns out, my ear canal swelled completely shut so I had to go today and get a "wick" put into my canal.  That was a very highly unpleasant thing to have done.  Luckily, there are pain pills!  LOL  However, now with this inserted wick, the external antibiotics will be able to get to the infection and should start healing within days.  I shall remain optimistic.

Each time I've had an illness, it has been on the serious side - seven days of the Flu, four days of Bronchitis, an upper respiratory infection that still hasn't completely gone away.....  It does have me wondering though, is this happening to other people too?  I know a couple of my co-workers have expressed that this has been their worse year too for illness.  Is this another sign of the changing global conditions?

I missed an article that caught my eye about dormant strains of viruses becoming active again because of changes to the earth's environment and wish I would have bookmarked it to read.  I believe there has to be some truth to it.  I'm curious what others may have to say or share on this subject  Please chime in!!!

I'm so sorry you've been ill, Debi! That is no fun. I hope you get better soon! =)

I haven't been seriously ill myself, but I have had nearly constant minor complaints... mainly running a fever. I have had a temperature since Christmas, off and on. Sometimes it's just a low-grade one, and just leaves me feeling wiped out after a few days. But a few times it has gotten to be high enough that it left me sitting bundled up in blankets with hot water bottles on the sofa next to the fire, feeling like utter dog poo. But overall, more frustrating than anything. Here in the UK, it seems there's been more cases of TB and other *eradicated* diseases, because of the immigrants coming in from Eastern Europe and Asia, where those diseases are still rampant. Maybe that's part of it, too? Different bugs from different parts of the world?

I hear you on being sick, I am getting over a nasty something or other that gave me my first fever in years...the last fever I remember was in 1998, seriously. I was holed up in the dorm and running a 102 degree fever over christmas break. Ugh! At least this time I only made it to 100 but being preggo, with a fever, a hackin cough and the cold/flu to boot is not fun! Plus just since the turn on the year, I have had 2 really bad colds, and I mean taking out stock in Puffs bad. Ugh!

I hope you are feeling better. Hopefully this spring will allow us more pleasant health and the allergies will stay at bay!
