| JUST A SOUL WHOSE INTENTIONS ARE GOOD
O GOD PLEASE DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD |
| Hurricane early Sept morn | Well, I slept pretty well and woke to winds that were picking up pretty good. The storm has been downgraded to a 2 which is good because the winds won't be as strong, but it is predicted to sit on us and rain for days so flooding will be a problem. I think over 2 million people have evacuated the coast. Most of my family,...no, so far, ALL of my family is riding out the storm in their homes.
I pretty sure I saw my son last night on TV standing in the distance behind Geraldo. He is with the National Guard and is patrolling down there. I recorded it so I can ask him later. He should be in the thick of it by now and it looks like it is heading my way because in the last twenty minutes the winds have really picked up. The two trees in my front yard are wildly dancing back and forth along with the other trees around the neighborhood.
The bad thing is the wind is blowing in this direction so branches or other loose material could fly straight for the house which has a big window on that side. I didn't tape or board it, I am surrounded by fence and courtyard so that helps break the winds a little.
Take care everyone, if I can I will write again but the electricity could go anytime. Love to all, pray for all the people in the storm.

 | Hurricane Gustav Update | The winds are starting to pick up, hopefully we will have electricity in the morning but this hurricane is in a hurry, it seems. At first it was going to make landfall at 1am on Tuesday morning, then sometime Monday night, then Monday noon and now, it looks like it will make landfall before the morning.
Over a million people have evacuated the Louisiana coast; and anyone not leaving, will be on their own, for a few days; without water, electricity, phone, medical help, nothing. It is like camping but nature comes to you instead of you going insearch of nature.
Surely there will be flooding for a few days, as the rains come and deluge us with the downpours. The tides will push the rivers and lakes in the direction of the winds, which will do a 180 as the storm passes. It looks as though the eye of the storm will pass just south of New Orleans and Baton Rouge which mean we will get the worst of it.

 | Hurricane Gustav | As of right now, I preparing for the storm that is due to hit tomorrow. We have water, batteries, candles, charcoal, canned goods, etc. All traffic is flowing one way, away from the coast. I have family east of here and they are preparing also. Most of my neighbors have already left town but many are staying to weather the storm. If we make it through the hurricane, then we will have to deal with no electicity and water for a while so once I stop blogging, it may be a while before I get back online.
One of my sons is in New Orleans with the National Guard. He called last night. He spent yesterday in the Ninth Ward patroling the neighborhoods for looting and then he helped people load up in buses and was takeing a break when he called. His unit is spending the night in New Orleans when the storm hits. I live an hour from New Orleans and we have no idea what this storm will do. It has been called the Mother of all Storms, the Storm of the Century, the storm that will make everyone forget Katrina.
Say a prayer for the Gulf Coast. Thanks.
