| A Letter from My Friend | Riding the scooter is must do in Ho Chi Minh City. When I was living in
Jakarta, I would never do that, in regards of the traffic and I feel
that its not really convenience. Since I moved to Vietnam that most
people say the country of motor bike, I start to enjoy it. Well the
first time, it was in a small country side called Hoi An, Its really
nice somehow look at the paddy rice and the sea side shore at the same
time. But its not the the same when decide to move to the south of
Vietnam where HCMC lies.
I can not compare HCMC with Jakarta, the traffic bustling here is
really awful, people so ignorance with the rules and regulation, one
day I told Renaud of of my friend who has stay here more than two
years; " I will never drive a bike here!" they are so amazingly
rebellion with the traffics signs. He replied; " don't worry you
getting used to it - you will do the same later on" Well.. thats
correct.
After Tam handed over the scooter to me at the first time I just put it
in the living room and never used it for couple months. Finally I just
want to give a try. Until now, they told me the way I drive is just the
same like locals - wait.... that's not true, at least I'm still obey
the rules.
Yes, I don't have any driving lesson at all ! Thats one of the
advantage being expat in Vietnam! You will never get caught by the
police, they will release you as soon as they know that you are the
foreigner. Thats one of the thing that I like from HCMC, I can do what
I can not do in Jakarta. Driving in the pavement just to get the short
